Experimental Setup for Fatigue Testing of Additively Manufactured Specimens

چکیده

Poor fatigue life is a huge issue of additively manufactured parts, despite the unique qualities characterizing this manufacturing process (such as low waste material and geometry freedom). Fatigue strongly affected by both surface defects internal defects, metal AM characterized extremely poor quality, porosities lack fusions. For reason, many researchers investigated methods to improve manufacts quality. The most promising are finishing treatments thermal which provide an enhancement behavior. A focal point research should be evaluating respective contribution treatments. In order evaluate effectiveness treatment, it necessary highlight quality in terms thus specific testing method necessary. Rotating beam test fits requirement because each specimen’s subjected maximum stress. aim work present experimental setup for rotating that has been used behavior SLM IN718 specimens.

Fatigue Performance of Ti-6Al-4V Additively Manufactured Specimens with Integrated Capillaries of an Embedded Structural Health Monitoring System

Additive manufacturing (AM) of metals offers new possibilities for the production of complex structures. Up to now, investigations on the mechanical response of AM metallic parts show a significant spread and unexpected failures cannot be excluded. In this work, we focus on the detection of fatigue cracks through the integration of a Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) system in Ti-6Al-4V specim...

Mechanical Properties of Additively Manufactured Thick Honeycombs

Honeycombs resemble the structure of a number of natural and biological materials such as cancellous bone, wood, and cork. Thick honeycomb could be also used for energy absorption applications. Moreover, studying the mechanical behavior of honeycombs under in-plane loading could help understanding the mechanical behavior of more complex 3D tessellated structures such as porous biomaterials. In ...

Additively manufactured medical products – the FDA perspective

Additive manufacturing/3D printing of medical devices is becoming more commonplace, a 3D printed drug is now commercially available, and bioprinting is poised to transition from laboratory to market. Despite the variety of technologies enabling these products, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is charged with protecting and promoting the public health by ensuring these products are safe...

Additively Manufactured Pneumatically Driven Skin Electrodes

Telemedicine focuses on improving the quality of health care, particularly in out-of-hospital settings. One of the most important applications is the continuous remote monitoring of vital parameters. Long-term monitoring of biopotentials requires skin-electrodes. State-of-the-art electrodes such as Ag/AgCl wet electrodes lead, especially during long-term application, to complications, e.g., ski...

Additively manufactured sub-periosteal jaw implants.

Severe bone atrophy jeopardizes the success of endosseous implants. This technical note aims to present the innovative concept of additively manufactured sub-periosteal jaw implants (AMSJIs). Digital datasets of the patient's jaws and wax trial in occlusion are used to segment the bone and dental arches, for the design of a sub-periosteal frame and abutments in the optimal location related to t...
